The next day, as soon as day broke, Dikaiopolis bade all get ready. So the others immediately prepared themselves, wishing to set out as soon as possible and soon were ready. But grandad refused to go: for he was so old that he couldn't walk far; and Melitta, after walking so far the day, before was exhausted; mother therefore thought best to leave her at home with grandad. When the others were present, Dikaiopolis, having led them into the courtyard, approached the altar and, after making a libation, implored Zeus to keep safe all undertaking such a long journey.

πάντας ἐκέλευσε παρασκευάζεσθαι
He bade all get ready, he told them all to be getting ready
οἱ ἄλλοι εὐθὺς παρασκευάσαντο
Simple fact: What happened then? The others got ready at once.
ὁ δὲ πάππος οὐκ ἠθέλησε πορεύεσθαι
simple fact: Granddad refused
not: kept on moaning and saying: no, no, no,
but: refused point blank, once and for all.
