When they had sailed a short while 10 warships were coming into view, which were travelling towards Piraeus on their way back from the islands. And so all watched the triremes which were fast hurrying through the waves. For the rowers, paying heed to the boatswain, struck the sea in unison. But when the triremes weren't visible any longer the wind became stronger, the sea became rough. And the people weren't enjoying themselves any longer, but the men were silent while the women were shrieking, imploring Poseidon to lead them safely into the harbour.
