Translation

In the meantime the Greeks waiting at Artemisium guarded the straits by sea, and fighting at sea defeated the barbarians, although these were superior in number, and warded them off. But when the barbarians took Thermopylae, the Greeks no longer guarded the straits, but retired with their ships to Salamis. And by land they could no longer resist the barbarians but fled towards the Peloponnese, leaving both Boeotia and Attica to the enemy. And so the barbarians, after advancing by land [toward Attica] intended to attack Athens, while by sea they sailed into Phaleron and then moored in the harbour.
