       a  μι verb instead of the usual  ω verbs

Athematic 2nd Aorist

athematic means no theme vowel between stem and ending. The endings are added directly to the stem. See  here  for details.

Masculine βάς and στάς are long and should have a macron
but Unicode fonts don't like the combination macron+accent,
