Plot

Not much of a story yet, but we're getting there. The next family member appears on the scene, Philip, son of Dikaiopolis. He brings lunch. Very nice of him. So master and slave can have a bite to eat, together, in harmony. Unfortunately we're not told what they're eating. Nor are we invited to partake.
After lunch, time to work. Willing to lend a hand, Philip stays on. He can take over the slave's job, walk leisurely behind, ὄπισθεν his ploughing father and sow the seed, while poor Xanthias has to carry stones, far too many for his taste. Thank God for nightfall.
