Neuter Nouns Take Singular Verb Endings

 The tree is in the garden.    τὸ δένδρον ἐστὶν ἐν τῷ κήπῳ
 The trees are in the garden.  τὰ δένδρα ἐστὶν ἐν τῷ κήπῳ
 There are also trees in the field  ἔστι καὶ δένδρα ἐν τῷ ἀγρῷ.
 There are piles of stones next to the fields.  ἔστι ἕρματα πρὸς τοῖς ἀγροῖς.  
 Ploughs are big.
 (Word-order is of minor importance.)
 μεγάλα ἐστὶ τὰ ἄροτρα.
 τὰ ἄροτρά ἐστι μεγάλα.
 τὰ ἄροτρα μεγάλα εστίν.
 The dogs bark and
     the flocks run
     the sheep flee/escape.
 οἱ μὲν κύνες ὑλακτοῦσιν,
     τὰ δὲ μῆλα τρέχει.
     τὰ δὲ πρόβατα φεύγει.
