Translation paragraph 5

Thus does Myrrhine finish the story, but Melitta: "And Ariadne, she says, does she rejoice? Does Theseus love her?" And Myrrhine, "No; Ariadne does not rejoice nor does Theseus love her." And Melitta, "Why does Theseus not love her? What happens?" And her mother, "THAT story I do not want to tell you just now."

this is how Murrine finishes the story

τὸν μῦθον περαίνει 
τὸν πόνον περαίνω 
τοὺς ἀγῶνας περαίνουσιν 
δι' ὀλίγου περαίνετε τὸν τῆς ἡμέρας πόνον (you bring your daily work to satisfactory completion. You do, don't you?)
ἀπέραντος endless (lesson 1a) comes from this verb: I end, I complete περαίνω
 

ἐκεῖνον τὸν μῦθον οὐκ ἐθέλει εἰπεῖν νῦν γε

indeed not now! οὐ νῦν γε 
right now  νῦν γε , she's got to prepare food so she
ἔρχεται καὶ ποιεῖ τὸν σῖτον = σιτοποιεῖ
(prepares corn for food, makes bread)
τίς σιτοποιεῖ ἐν τῇ σῇ οἰκία;
ἆρα σιτοποιεῖ αὐτὸς ἤ ποιεῖ ἄλλος τι;
Attention: This σιτοποιεῖ is 2nd person singular middle:
do you do your own cooking yourself for yourself?
Attention: The second ποιεῖ ἄλλος τι; is active 3rd person sg. of course.
Same form, different formation, different meaning
σιτοποιεῖ 'you cook for yourself' contracted from σιτοποιέ-εσαι
ποιεῖ 'he does it' contracted from ποιέ-ει
ἐγὼ σιτοποιοῦμαι αὐτός, ἡ γὰρ ἀνάγκη μ' ἔχει. μόνος εἰμι for the moment, and anyway,
εἰ ἐθέλομεν ἐσθίειν ὅ τι φιλοῦμεν, ἀναγκαζόμεθα σιτοποιεῖσθαι αὐτοί.
ἡ ἀνάγκη ἡμᾶς ἔχει = ὁ βίος ἀναγκάζει ἡμᾶς = ἀναγκαζόμεθα (translate)
 

ἐκεῖνον τὸν μῦθον οὐκ ἐθέλω εἰπεῖν (1st edition)say

βούλομαι λέγειν. (2nd edition) I want to speak, in general. I want to go on telling, the telling will take time.
βούλομαι εἰπεῖν this, that or the other
I want to say something specific
Can I εἰπεῖν σοι a secret or are you going to εἰπεῖν ταῖς φίλαις what I said?
You must εἰπεῖν μοι where you bought that hat.
The command form: tell me!
εἰπέ μοι
εἴπετέ μοι to several people
stems from this εἰπεῖν and should not be too difficult to practice.
