We all know people who get a new appliance and proceed to study the instruction booklet. From front to back, and then from back to front again. Trying to make sense of the hopeless gibberish. While others just grab hold of the gadget and get it to work, only occasionally glancing at the booklet: when looking for some specific information they need.

What applies to gadgets, also holds true for language instruction booklets, grammars and such like. Consult them when in need of a specific piece of information. Put them aside. Then USE the information to get the language working. Be practical! Unless of course you're mainly interested in the theory, in exact, precise science.

We also know people who mess things up because they refuse to have anything to do with theory and explanations. That is plain stupid. In any field. Because explanations are there to help us when we get stuck.

So, when I say things you are not interested in, or are not yet ready for, skip them. Do something else, something worth your while. You can always come back for them later. Remember where to look for information, should it become needed and therefore useful, to you.
